| Nov. 18 | Western (H) | (W) 120-66 The Lady Katfish are off and rolling. We won every event except the 500-freestyle in beating Western 120-66. The girls were dominant in the 50-free and the 100-fly, sweeping the events by placing first, second, and third. Katie Hingst and Lexi Laird were quadruple winners for the Lady Katfish. Hingst won the 200-free and the 100-breaststroke and was a member of the winning 200-medley relay team and the 400-free relay. Laird’s individual wins came in the 200-IM and the 100-backstroke, and she joined Hingst on the two aforementioned relays. Alex Ungerer was named the Swimmer of the Meet as she won the 50-free and played a key role on her two relays.
Sweeping the 50-free were Ungerer, Kelsey Griffin, and Sahara Johnson, while Jenna Gilbert, Aubrie Granson, and Margaret Booher accomplished the 100-butterfly sweep. Brittany Gauger won the diving competition, and Rachel Pace was second for the winning Wildkats. – Coach Walters |

| Nov. 25 | Harrison (H) | (L) 101-84 The Lady Katfish won six of the twelve events, but we just couldn’t keep Harrison at bay as we lost 101-84. We just couldn’t hold off the depth that Harrison had, but I am extremely proud of all of our ladies. They really swam their hearts out. Katie Hingst was a triple winner for us. Individually, she won the 200 IM and the 500-free, and joined Lexi Laird, Kelsey Griffin, and Annika Taber on the winning 200-medley relay team. Laird also took honors in the 100-backstroke, and Jenna Gilbert took the blue ribbon in the 200-free. Brittany Gauger won her specialty, diving, with Rachel Pace coming in second. The
Swimmer of the Meet was Abby Rolland. The sophomore stepped up to the plate and had an awesome 500-freestyle. She also had an awesome “pinch hit” in the 4x100 relay. Way to go, Abby!!
The Lady Katfish are off until December 10th when they join forces with our male counterparts to take on the Marion Giants. – Coach Walters |

| Dec. 13 | Huntington North (H) | (W) 118-68 We whooped up on Huntington North. Our girls won 11 of 12 events. We won 118 to 68. I swam our girls in lanes where they were able to keep an eye on who they needed to beat. Every single swimmer knew their job and executed our plan perfectly.
Katie Hingst was our Swimmer of the Meet for her quadruple win. She won the 100 breast, 500 free and the medley relay and the sprint relay. Several swimmers are dropping lots of time. Margaret Booher dropped another five seconds in her 100 fly and Abby Rolland dropped a total of seven seconds last week in her 500 free. Lexi Laird had a personal best 100 time and dropped below the minute for the first time in one year. She blew her old time away and swam a 58. Rachel Pace dove a solid 185 to score first place points. Diving is helping our meet scores tremendously as well!
I am very impressed with our underclass athletes as they are swimming very strong and adding tremendously to the bottom line of our meets. The ladies meet Maconaquah on Thursday and Saturday travel to the Nat for the annual Holiday Classic. – Coach Walters |

| Jan. 7 | Maconaquah (H) | (W) 110-76 Kokomo topped Maconaquah in a stunning fashion, 110-76. We had many lifetime bests and a complete domination by all of our ladies. The hard work and preparation we put forth over break really showed. Katie Hingst won the 200 IM and the 100-backstroke, Jenna Gilbert took the 200- and 500-freestyles, and Lexi Laird claimed victories in the 50- and 100-free. Those three were joined by Annika Taber to win the 200-medley relay. Brittany Gauger in diving. She was our Performer of the Meet as well.
Margaret Booher dropped 26 seconds in her 500-free last night. Our ladies were met with adversity last night and didn’t fight back. They know this can’t happen this weekend. Ladies score was 132-54. – Coach Walters |

| Jan. 17 | North Central Conference @ Ball State | 1. Richmond 427, 2. Muncie Central 322, 3. New Castle 305, 4. Logansport 246,
5. Kokomo 225, 6. Marion 206, 7. Huntington North 193, 8. Anderson 137. Our ladies finished fifth at the N.C.C. meet. We got off to a bad start with a DQ in our medley relay that cost us 34 points right out of the gate. The ladies fought back and did NOT get down about this and ended up 5th. With the lost points, we would have been 4th. We want our kids living on the edge in a relay when they are in a place to win, but these are the knocks we take sometimes. I saw some tremendous swimming and am proud of all of our kids’ performances. We had three ladies make the All-N.C.C. team. Katie Hingst won the 200 IM and was second in the 500-free. Lexi Laird was also a conference champion with a first-place finish in the 100-backstroke, and Brittany Gauger defended her title in N.C.C. diving with another blue ribbon performance. Rachel Pace had a fourth place finish in diving, and Jenna Gilbert was fourth in the 100-fly. Laird was 6th in the 100-free, and Annika Taber finished sixth in the 50-free and 10th in the 100-free. Gilbert was 7th in the 200-free, Ashley Volikas 11th in diving, and Kelsey Griffin was 11th in the 200 IM and 12th in the 100-breaststroke. Abby Rolland and Laura Aleshire were 14th and 16th, respectively, in the 500-free, Alex Ungerer was 12th in the 100-back, and Margaret Booher was two spots behind Ungerer. Our 400-freestyle relay team of Laird, Taber, Gilbert, and Hingst finished in third place. The 200-free relay team of Ungerer, Booher, Griffin, and Sahara Johnson came in eighth. These ladies are working so hard and dropping time like crazy. Now we move on to preparing for sectionals. – Coach Walters See complete results here. |
