Kristi Cardwell advances to state on the individual level.  Kristi finished 3rd with a 78.
I am sure that you have watched your favorite team win many games. You have also seen them lose. But the worse thing that you can watch is losing as time expires. That is what it felt like on Saturday. We came out and gave it our all but it was not enough. After nine holes, we were sitting in 4th place, seven strokes behind the third place team. A trip to state was in our sites. It all started to fall apart. We finished with a 361. We were tied with Chatard, but there were still three teams on the course. When scores were being posted, it looked like we were tied for 3rd place. We would have to go to the 5th score to determine who would win. It was not in our favor, we would have lost by four strokes. Once all the scores were posted third place had shot a 360, leaving both of us out of the top three. Looking at our scores anybody could have taken two strokes off somewhere in their round. Four of the girls ending up in the water on hole 18. Kylie shot an 86, Mary Kate shot 97, Lindsy shot a 100, and Tausha had a 103.

On a happier note, Kristi advanced as an individual. She shot a six-over-par 78. She will tee off Friday morning at 8:30 am. Good Luck Kristi. - Coach Carpenter
Oct. 3-4 State Finals @ Legends

Kristi topped off her high school golf career with an outstanding performance at state this past weekend. Friday she fired an awesome round of 70. That was two-under par. She started out with three birdies, a bogie, and five pars.  She turned to the front nine and had nine pars. The second day was not as good as the first day. She started with three pars and a birdie, and then she had some problems. She double bogied the 5th hole, but came back with a birdie. Hole 7 caused her some problems and she doubled it. That followed with three bogies. She gathered herself and came back with seven pars. She came up to hole 18 and had a double for a 7-over par 79. She had a two-day total of 149, which was good enough for a 5th place finish. She was also named to the All State Golf Team for the 2nd year in a row. Kristi's performance is the best performance in the history of Kokomo Lady golfers at State.

Kristi has 8 of the 9 Individual records and has been a part of 10 of the 12 team records for Kokomo High School.  Kristi may have ended her high school, but she will start preparing for her college career at Iowa. Good Luck Kristi! It has been a pleasure and a wonderful experience to coach you for four years. - Coach Carpenter
