| Mar. 30 | Eastern (T) | (W) 6-0 The Kats opened up the 2010 season with a 6-0 win over Eastern thanks to a no-hitter thrown by Colton Summers. Summers threw only 68 pitches in seven innings of work for the win. He struck out seven while only walking one, pitching a very efficient game. He moved the ball around keeping hitters off-balanced all day. T.J .Weir, Devin Schacht, Michael Reynolds, Phillip Kuhns, and Nolan Sanburn all made some great play defensively behind Summers to help him throw this no-hitter. The Kats were led on offense by Nick Franklin, Weir, Dylan Green, and Schacht. Kokomo had 11 hits on the day as a team. Franklin was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a RBI. Weir, Green, and Schacht all had two hits each with Weir hitting a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Austin Colby and Reynolds contributed with an RBI each in the game. | Mar. 31 | Fishers (T) | (W) 16-4 The Wildkats made the trip over to Fishers and brought their bats with them for a 16-4 win. The Kats (2-0) jumped out on top of the Tigers 8-0 in the first two innings. Kokomo pounded out 15 hits in the game and were led by Nolan Sanburn’s 3-for-3 with two three-run homers and a double. Sanburn scored three times and had seven RBIs on the night. Austin Colby went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Phillip Kuhns was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Devin Schacht hit a two-run homerun in the fourth inning. Brad Griggs, T.J. Weir, and Casey Shipley all had doubles in the game for the Kats. Weir got the win on the mound going 4 1/3 innings with Nick Lorenc coming in to get the last two outs. They combined to only allow five hits on the game with five strikeouts. Phillip Kuhns was again a defensive star in the outfield for the Kats with Drew Sawyer making a couple defensive plays at shortstop to help the Kats play good defense behind Weir. | Apr. 1 | Taylor (H) | (W) 7-2 The #4-ranked Kats took their record to 3-0 after beating Taylor the Thursday before break by the score of 7-2. Nick Lorenc got the win on the mound going five innings, striking out 10, and only giving up three hits. Colton Summers and Phillip Kuhns threw in relief. Kuhns got the Kats out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the sixth inning. The Kats pitchers only allowed five hits and struck out 13 batters. The Kokomo offense was led by Austin Colby and Devin Schacht, who each had two hits in the game. One of Colby's hits was a big three-run home run in the bottom of the 4th inning. Nick Franklin hit a solo home run to get the Kats going in the second inning, and Dylan Green banged a two-run blast in the sixth to add to the Kats lead. The Kats have had six different players hit home runs this year. The Kats are back in action Tuesday at Lafayette Jeff. The game starts at 6:00 and will be played at Loeb Stadium. – Coach Edwards |
| Apr. 13 | Lafayette Jeff (T) | (L) 11-1 (5 innings) The Wildkats took one on the chin last night losing to Lafayette Jeff 11-1. Nick Lorenc got the loss for the Kats pitching 1/3 of an inning giving up four runs on two hits with four walks. The Kats never recovered from the bad start but got a strong pitching performance by Pete Keyes, who threw 3 2/3 innings of shutout ball. The Kats only had four hits and committed four errors on defense in the loss. Phillip Kuhns had a double in the game, and Nolan Sanburn scored the only Wildkat run on a sacrifice fly by Devin Schacht. | Apr. 14 | Western (T) | (W) 7-3 The Kats got a solid pitching performance by T.J. Weir last night over at Western for a 7-3 win. T.J. pitched a complete game striking out six and only giving up four hits. Weir worked his way out of a few jams during the game, and Casey Shipley made two great plays defensively in the outfield to help Weir out. The Wildkats (4-1) were led on offense by Michael Reynolds and Nolan Sanburn. Sanburn hit a two-run home run in the first inning deep over centerfield to give the Kats a 3-0 lead. Sanburn scored two runs and had three RBIs on the night. Reynolds was 3-for-4 with a two- run homer in the third to give the Kats a 5-2 lead. The Kats also got big hits from Weir, Phillip Kuhns, Shipley, Dylan Green, and Nick Franklin. The Kats are back in action tomorrow night at Frankfort starting at 6pm. – Coach Edwards |
| Apr. 16 | Frankfort (T) | (W) 13-1 (5 innings) The Kats had a good weekend winning three games to run their record to 7-1. The Kats won Friday at Frankfort by the score of 13-1 in six innings. Colton Summers got the win on the mound throwing another complete game with nine strikeouts and only gave up five hits. Summers was very efficient all game moving the ball around with tough wind conditions baffling the Hot Dogs. The leading hitters for the Kats against Frankfort were Phillip Kuhns, T.J. Weir, Nolan Sanburn, and Devin Schacht all with two hits and accounted for most of the Kats’ RBIs. Sanburn hit another homerun for the Kats and had four RBIs. – Coach Edwards |
| Apr. 17 | Highland (H) | (W) 5-2 On Saturday the Kats won a tough one against Highland by the score of 5-2. Nick Lorenc got the win against the Trojans going five innings and throwing a one-hitter. Lorenc struck out six but walked seven. Phillip Kuhns got the save on the mound for the Kats throwing the last two innings. Michael Reynolds was the story on offense going 3-for-3 with two home runs and all five RBIs. Devin Schacht went 2-for-3 for the Kats. – Coach Edwards |

Sanburn struck out nine and only gave up three hits on the game. Sanburn also led the way offensively with two hits, and he scored two runs. Nick Franklin hit a two-run homer in the third to get the Kats going. The Kats had nine hits on the game and stole eight bases. Keyes only gave up three hits and stuck out six. Devin Schacht pitched the last 1 2/3 and struck out two. Nolan Sanburn hit his fifth home run of the season going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Michael Reynolds again had a perfect day at the plate going 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Mitchell Frey had a big triple in the 5th inning with two RBIs and T.J.Weir had a RBI double in the first. | Apr. 21 | Northwestern (H) | (W) 12-2 (in six innings) The Kats took their record to 9-1 with a 12-2 six-inning win over Northwestern. Colton Summers (3-0) got the win on the mound going the distance only allowing six hits and striking out five. Summers did a great job getting out of a couple jams early and was very sharp the last two innings of the game. The Kats played great defense behind Summers, committing no errors in the game. The Kats on offense pounded out 17 hits with Nick Franklin, Phillip Kuhns, Devin Schacht, TJ Weir, and Nolan Sanburn leading the way. Franklin was 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Kuhns was 3-for-4 with a three-run homer in the 3rd inning and 5 RBIs. Schacht was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, and Weir and Sanburn each had two hits in the game. Every Kokomo starter had at least one hit. The Kats are back in action this Saturday at Warsaw for a big doubleheader starting at 11:00 a.m. They are back at home Monday against McCutcheon at 5:00 p.m. at Highland Park. – Coach Edwards |

| Apr. 26 | McCutcheon (H) | (W) 6-3 The Kats got a 6-3 win yesterday over McCutcheon at Highland Park. Nolan Sanburn pitched a complete game striking out nine and only giving up four hits. Sanburn was efficient on the mound and got out of bases loaded jam in the 5th inning. Sanburn and T.J. Weir led the Wildkats on offense with two hits each. Weir had a two-RBI double in the 1st inning to get the Kats going, and Sanburn had two timely singles in the game and a RBI. Michael Reynolds and Drew Sawyer also had hits for Kokomo. The Kats are now 10-1 and are back in action tomorrow at North Central at 5p.m. - Coach Edwards |
| Apr. 28 | North Central (T) | (W) 10-0 (6 innings) The Kats blanked North Central yesterday by the score of 10-0 in six innings. Colton Summers ran his record to 4-0 with a three-hit shutout of the Panthers. Summers had three strikeouts and had control of the game from the beginning, keeping the North Central hitters off balanced all night. This was Summers’ fourth complete game, and he was efficient again only throwing 66 pitches. Phillip Kuhns led the Wildkats at the plate with two hits including a double in the first inning. Nolan Sanburn hit his sixth home run of the season with a two-run blast in the third inning to put the Kats up 4-0. Devin Schacht hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to bust the game wide open. Casey Shipley, T.J. Weir, Dylan Green, and Drew Sawyer all added hits in the game. The Kats are back in action today at Lafayette Central Catholic starting at 5:30. – Coach Edwards |
| Apr. 29 | Laf. Cent. Catholic (T) | (L) 17-7 The Wildkats got beat by Lafayette Central Catholic last night by the score of 17-7. Four Wildkat pitchers gave up 13 hits, walked 10, and hit two batters on the game. Pete Keyes got the loss for the Wildkats pitching in relief of Nick Lorenc, who failed to get an out in the 1st inning. The Wildkat pitchers struggled to find their control all night and the Wildkat defense made three errors behind them. On offense the Kats jumped out to a 4-0 lead but then disappeared on offense, only managing seven hits on the night. T.J. Weir led the Kats on offense hitting two home runs. Weir had a two-run homer in the 1st inning and a solo shot in the 2nd. Michael Reynolds also had two hits in the game. The Kats open up conference play Saturday at Richmond in a doubleheader starting at 11a.m. The Kats are 11-2 on the season. – Coach Edwards |

| May 1 | Richmond (DH) (T) | Kokomo 11 - Richmond 1 Kokomo 13 - Richmond 5 The Kats went to Richmond this weekend to open up NCC play and came away with a doubleheader sweep running their record to 13-2. Kokomo won the first game by the score of 11-1 in six innings and won the second game by the score of 13-5. The Kats pounded out 31 hits in the two games. In the 11-1 first game Nolan Sanburn pitched all six innings for the win, striking out 10 and only giving up two hits. The offensive leader was Casey Shipley who had three hits. T.J. Weir, Sanburn, Michael Reynolds, and Devin Schacht all had two hits in the first game with Weir and Sanburn hitting back-to-back homers in the fourth inning. Weir had three RBIs with Sanburn, Mitchell Frey, and Austin Colby adding two RBIs. In the 13-5 second game, Colton Summers picked up his fifth win of the season pitching four innings. Weir and Nick Lorenc pitched in relief of Summers, and the pair struck out five in the last three innings. The leading hitters for the Kats in the second game were Shipley and Phillip Kuhns, who had four hits each. Weir and Reynolds each added two hits, and Weir and Kuhns each had three RBIs. The Kats are back in action tomorrow at Logansport at 5:00 and then back at Highland Park Wednesday for a throwback game with Logan at 5:00. Both games are conference match-ups. – Coach Edwards |
| May 4 | Logansport (T) | (W) 11-0 (5 innings) The Kats beat Logansport on the road by the score of 11-0 in 5 innings. The Kats got a no-hitter from Nolan Sanburn on the mound. Sanburn blew away the Logansport hitters through the whole game striking out seven and only walked two in the win. On offense the Kats pounded out nine hits and got two hits apiece from Casey Shipley, T.J. Weir, and Sanburn. The first big hit of the game was an RBI double by Shipley in the second inning, followed by a two-RBI triple by Phillip Kuhns. In the third inning Nick Franklin hit a grand slam over the scoreboard to give the Kats a 7-0 lead. Weir then hit a solo home run in the fourth and had a two-run double in the fifth inning to extend the Kats lead. The Kats play Logansport again today at Highland Park at 5 p.m. in another NCC game. This will be a throwback game to remember Kokomo Haworth, which has now been closed for 25 years. The Kats will be wearing Haworth Husky uniforms, hats, and sporting stirrup socks. – Coach Edwards |

Weir got the win on the mound, throwing a complete game four-hitter. Weir only struck out one batter on the game but kept the Logansport hitters off balanced all night. Drew Sawyer, Devin Schacht, Casey Shipley, and Austin Colby all made big plays defensively behind Weir. Offensively the Kats were led by Weir, who hit two home runs, scored two runs, and had three RBIs. Phillip Kuhns also hit a home run in the third inning to really spark the Kats and give them a 2-0 lead. Schacht and Nick Franklin had big RBI singles in the game. The Kats had nine hits in the game, and every starter had at least a hit or RBI in the game. | May 8 | Muncie Central (DH) (H) | Kokomo 14 - Muncie Central 4 (5 innings) Kokomo 12 - Muncie Central 4 The Kats had 27 hits on the day to take two games from Muncie Central Saturday by the scores of 14-4 in five innings and 12-4. In the first game there were six Wildkats with two hits each. Casey Shipley, Phillip Kuhns, T.J. Weir, Nolan Sanburn, Devin Schacht, and Nick Franklin all had two hits. Shipley had four RBIs in the first game, while Weir and Michael Reynolds hit home runs. Colton Summers got the win in the first game throwing a complete game only giving up eight hits while striking out three. Summers is now 6-0 on the season. The seventh inning proved to be the deciding factor in the 12-4 second game. The Kats scored seven runs in the seventh after taking a 5-4 lead in the sixth. The Kats had 13 hits in the second game and were led by Shipley and Reynolds with three hits each. The Kats also got two hits from Austin Colby. In the second game the Kats got a big performance on the mound by Devin Schacht and Kuhns. Schacht got the win, while Kuhns picked up the save. The two combined to give up seven hits, strikeout five, while walking three. Kuhns came into the game in the 6th inning with the score 5-4 and shut the Bearcats down. | May 13 | Marion (DH) | Kokomo 8 - Marion 1 Kokomo 11 - Marion 4 (6 innings) The Kats took two from Marion last night by the scores of 8-1 and 11-4. Nolan Sanburn got the win on the mound in the first game, running his record to 5-0 and striking out 12 in a complete game performance. Sanburn only allowed four hits and walked one. Sanburn also hit a two-run home run for the Kats in the sixth inning. The biggest hits in the first game though were by T.J. Weir and Dylan Green in the six-run fifth inning. Weir got the Kats going with an RBI double after Casey Shipley stole second base. Devin Schacht had a two-RBI single and then Dylan Green stepped up and hit a long three-run home run over the centerfield fence to put the Kats up 6-1. Schacht was the only Kat with two hits in the first game. In the second game Weir got the win on the mound, running his record to 4-0, striking out six, and only giving up three hits in five innings of work. Nick Lorenc came in and finished the game off on the mound. The Kats pounded out 13 hits in the second game. We were led by Shipley, Weir, Sanburn, and Schacht, who all had multiple hits. Colton Summers and Phillip Kuhns hit doubles in the game. The Kats got home runs by Weir and Sanburn in the second game, which gives both players nine homers on the season. | May 15 | Anderson (DH) (T) | Anderson 4 - Kokomo 3 Kokomo 11 - Anderson 3 The Kats split with Anderson on Saturday to take their record to 20-3 and 9-1 in conference. Anderson won the first game by the score of 4-3, and the Kats came back and won the second game 11-3. Colton Summers was the tough luck loser in game one. He pitched a complete game, struck out nine, and walked none. Summers gave up three earned runs and nine hits in the first game. Anderson won the game in the last inning when the Kats tried to turn a double play that would have pushed the game into extra innings. Nolan Sanburn was the leading hitter for the Kats, recording two hits and scoring all three of the Kokomo runs. In the second game, Nick Lorenc got the win on the mound giving up three runs on seven hits. Lorenc struck out three and walked two. The leading hitters for the Kats were Michael Reynolds, Devin Schacht, Dylan Green, and Nick Franklin, who all had two hits. | May 18 | Huntington North (T) | (W) 6-4 The Kats beat Huntington North last night by the score of 6-4. Nolan Sanburn pitched a complete game five-hitter with 14 strikeouts to get the win on the mound for the Kats. Sanburn overpowered the Huntington North lineup throughout the game and actually struck out five Huntington batters in the last two innings to secure the win. Offensively, Kokomo jumped out on top of the Vikings in the first inning 3-0 thanks to singles by Casey hipley, Phillip Kuhns, and Dylan Green. SThe Kats were led on offense by Shipley, T.J. Weir, and Green, who each had two hits in the game. Michael Reynolds and Devin Schacht also had big hits for the Kats. Green by far had the best at bat on the night when he made the Huntington pitcher throw 15 pitches to him in one at bat before he hit an RBI single to put the Kats up 4-2. | May 22 | New Castle (DH) (H) | Kokomo 12 - New Castle 2 (6) Kokomo 12 - New Castle 7 The Kats pounded out 34 hits on Senior Day to wrap up NCC play with two wins over New Castle on Saturday. The Kats had already won the NCC last Thursday but wanted to come out and finish the job and they did going 13-1 in NCC play this season. The Kats won the first game 12-2 in six innings. Colton Summers got his seventh win of the season on the mound in the first game, going the distance and only giving up two runs on four hits and he struck out two. Summers had a rough second inning, but after that kept New Castle down by only allowing one base runner to get to second base the last four innings. Phillip Kuhns and T.J. Weir led the way offensively in the first game with three hits each. Kuhns was a monster in producing four RBIs on the game followed by Weir’s three RBIs. Weir hit his 11th home run of the season in the first game to extend his season record he broke last week. Nick Franklin and Drew Sawyer contributed with two hits in game one. In the second game, Pete Keyes got the start in a 12-7 win and was relieved on the mound by Nick Lorenc, who picked up the win. Lorenc pitched six innings only giving up one run on four hits and struck out six. The Kats had 21 hits in the second game that saw every Wildkat get in the game. Casey Shipley, Kuhns, and Nolan Sanburn all had three hits in the second game to lead the Kats. Devin Schacht, Dylan Green, and Franklin all had two hits for Kokomo. Weir hit another home run in the second game to give him 12 on the season, and Dylan Green also had a two run home run in the game and led the Kats with three RBIs. The Kats have a 24-3 record overall and finished 13-1 in the NCC. This is the Kats third NCC championship in four years. The Kats play in the Lafayette Sectional Monday, Memorial Day at 12:00 at Loeb Stadium against the winner of Logansport and McCutcheon. - Coach Edwards |
