Graphic Design

Graphic Design is designed to offer students an opportunity to explore the world of desktop publishing, graphic arts, basic and advanced design techniques, introductory printing and pressroom skills. Course work will be offered relative to developing sufficient marketable skills in a commercial or in-house design, printing or advertising business or to prepare a student for further education in this field.

Emphasis is placed on skill development and knowledge in the areas of page layout, understanding of graphic programs, composition, running of digital duplicator and operation of graphic design related pre-press equipment. The course will offer basic skills in the operation of bindery and finishing equipment. Second year students will have the opportunity to explore advanced skills in the areas mentioned above.
In addition, a third year opportunity allows students to continue to develop their skills in the software programs and take on outside projects for the community. For example, designing/printing business cards, flyers, posters, and brochures.
