Culinary Arts is a two-year program designed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. The class offers students the chance to combine classroom activities, including operating a café three days a week and internships with mentors in dining establishments in the area. The classroom work emphasizes customer relations, cost controls, menu planning, marketing, skills and communications along with food preparation skills and sanitation requirements. Students who complete the ProStart program will receive a certificate from the National Restaurant Association that is recognized in the industry as representing the core knowledge of food service operations. To complete the  program, students must maintain a C average and complete all requirements of the ProStart Program.

Students may take the class for one year, but may not qualify for ProStart Certification.
