Cosmetology is a two-year program where students study hair styling (wet & thermal), shampooing, rinsing, conditioning, scalp treatments, facial treatments, facial makeup, hair removal, permanent waving, chemical relaxers, soft curl permanents, hair coloring, manicuring, pedicures, first aid and sanitation within state guidelines. Students must be accepted by the KACC School of Cosmetology and pay a kit fee. First-year students attend class in the morning and two evenings per week. Second year students may be assigned either an afternoon time, or the morning and two evenings per week. Material is presented by a licensed instructor and training leads directly to the Indiana State Board for final examination and licensing. The program provides preparation for the successful completion of the state exam. 1,500 hours of theory and practical experience are provided over the two years of training. |
