The 2012-2013 enrollment sessions for Kokomo-Center K-8 students are scheduled July 24-26, and interested parents and guardians of prospective students are invited to tour our schools. Kokomo-Center Schools enrollment sessions are: Tuesday, July 24, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesday, July 25, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Thursday, July 26, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For the benefit of your child, all K-8 students are encouraged to enroll during these sessions.
Kokomo-Center Schools includes 7 elementary (K-5) schools and 2 middle (6-8) schools, and each school offers unique opportunities. At the elementary level, the following programs – Traditional, 1-to-1 Technology, International, High Ability, Integrated Arts – are available, while our middle schools offer Traditional, International, High Ability, and Career programs.
Our two Traditional elementary schools – Boulevard on the west side and Elwood Haynes on the east side – provide a rich traditional curriculum, including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Our two 1-to-1 Technology elementary schools – Bon Air and Pettit Park – will provide personal computing devices for all students to use during the school day. Our International elementary schools – Lafayette Park and Sycamore – allow students to experience real-world projects with a global focus. Our Integrated Arts elementary school at Wallace offers a curriculum that includes dance, keyboarding, and guitar, as well as other opportunities to enhance academic learning through the arts. Our High Ability program (KEY) at the elementary level is located at Sycamore and is designed for students who have been found to be eligible due to exceptional gifts, talents, motivations, or interests.
At the middle school level, a Traditional program is available at both Central and Maple Crest. The International and High Ability programs are housed at Central, while Maple Crest offers selected 8th graders a Career School. Parents should enroll their students at the school building where they will attend classes in 2012-2013. Out-of-district, non-registered, students may report to any of Kokomo-Center’s elementary schools (K-5) or either middle school (6-8) for assistance. The first day of school for students is Thursday, August 9, 2012. |
