The Board of School Trustees is dedicated to the corporation’s mission of providing a quality education for all students in a safe and secure environment. In order to accomplish the goal of providing a quality education for ALL students, this Board supports the process of offering a greater range of programs and options for our students and parents.
The new Integrated Arts School at Wallace Elementary and the 1to-1 Technology schools at Bon Air Elementary and Pettit Park Elementary are excellent examples. In addition, Bon Air Middle School will re-open as a 1-to-1 Technology School for the 2013-2014 school year.
The International Baccalaureate candidate schools at Lafayette Park and Sycamore elementary schools and Central Middle School will be exclusively Magnet schools for the 2013-2014 school year. Both Sycamore and Central house KEY (Kokomo Enrichment for Youth) gifted and talented cohorts. Central students enjoy International student exchanges, while all IB students receive daily instruction in a foreign language.
Kokomo Schools continues to provide high quality instruction in core subject areas at our Traditional Schools at Boulevard and Elwood Haynes elementary schools and Maple Crest Middle School. Maple Crest offers a Career School option to qualified 8th-grade students.
The International Middle Years Program expands to 10th graders at KHS while all 9th and 10th graders will be provided laptops for use during the school day for the 2013-2014 school year. Kokomo High School offers 17 Advanced Placement courses and students can earn more than 165 additional college credits at the Kokomo Area Career Center.
